Rent to Buy - Hire a Hut

What does rent to buy actually mean?

If you’ve landed here searching for rent to buy, it’s worth understanding what that term actually means first, because it’s not quite what it sounds like.

Rent to buy is a form of finance. Like a mortgage, your weekly payments include fees and interest built in. It’s not a way to own a cabin without financing costs, it’s simply another way to structure a loan. A lot of people aren’t aware of this, so we’d rather be upfront about it than let you find out later.

Why we don’t offer rent to buy ourselves

In New Zealand, providing a financial service like rent to buy means registering as a Financial Service Provider (FSP) and meeting financial services legislation. We’re not a lender, so we’re not an FSP, and we can’t offer finance directly.

What we do instead

We’ve partnered with a finance company who can assess your situation and structure a loan if you’re eligible. Every cabin model we offer can be financed this way, and terms are worked out case by case.
